Leverage off your REANNZ network to connect with your cloud service provider.
Cloud Connect can use your existing REANNZ network connection
It does not need to transit across the consumer internet
Can be extended as Layer 2 or Layer 3 service
Diversity can be achieved multiple ways, including IPSec, depending on your needs
Cloud Connect can be extended to Regions and Availability Zones across the US with our Internet2 Partnership
Connect with the cloud service provider of your choice: AWS Direct Connect and Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute. If you use AWS, your data egress fees can be waived; approved education institutions can negotiate a fee waiver with MS Azure. For more information contact email@example.com.
Cloud Connect is the provision of a direct path from your local environment to cloud providers, e.g. AWS/Azure. Both AWS Direct Connect and Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute are available today, however connections to other cloud providers can be investigated.REANNZ Cloud Connect creates a connection from one or more virtual routers in the cloud service provider’s domain, to one or more member handover ports on the REANNZ network. Both layer 2 and layer 3 connectivity are supported, which can be presented to the member either on a handover port, or into the member's WAN. BGP is used where routing is required. The following outlines the standard blueprints used for Cloud Connect, however if this does not suit your needs, get in touch to discuss how a bespoke solution can be designed.
REANNZ connects into the AWS Asia Pacific (Sydney) region directly (ap-southeast-2); other regions can be achieved through NREN partnerships. This connection can be leveraged by multiple REANNZ members requiring access to their AWS instances within the Asia Pacific (Sydney) region. Backup to this is provided using an IPSec connection terminating within the REANNZ network.

This diagram shows what blocks need to be configured and how they need to be connected together to build up VPC connectivity inside of AWS. It provides the blueprint of all the required components both on the Member's side and on the REANNZ side.Where possible, labels on the individual blocks should match up directly with the various AWS portal configuration units and menus.
Amazon also provides a detailed diagram explaining how AWS works.

REANNZ provides ExpressRoute connectivity to Azure instances within the Australia East (New South Wales). The connectivity into your instances can be presented in Auckland, New Zealand, and carried to you over the REANNZ network.
Find more information about Azure ExpressRoute here.
REANNZ supports the following bandwidth amounts. You can increase the ExpressRoute circuit bandwidth (on a best effort basis) without having to tear down your connections for existing services.

For Azure ExpressRoute REANNZ are only able to support the Oceania region. Get in touch with the team at firstname.lastname@example.org if you require a connection to a different location.
