Towards a Digital Strategy for Aotearoa - REANNZ response

Submission: Towards a Digital Strategy for Aotearoa – REANNZ response

REANNZ contributed a submission to the discussion on Towards a Digital Strategy for Aotearoa (the Digital Strategy). The development of a digital strategy for the benefit of all New Zealanders presents an opportunity for cross sector collaboration to support the proposed vision, goals and measures outlined in the discussion paper.

The consultation document presents a vision for Aotearoa's digital strategy across three pillars:

  • Pillar 1:  Mahi Tika - Trust

  • Pillar 2:  Mahi Tahi - Inclusion

  • Pillar 3:  Mahi Ake - Growth

REANNZ's submission highlights the change digitalisation is bringing to all parts of the community, including the Research, Science and Innovation (RSI) and Education sectors that we support. This convergence of science and technology is creating a demand for new skills to drive the growth of R&D in New Zealand and REANNZ contributes to this through our participation in the sector. Taking a pan-sector view, and drawing on our local and global experience we discuss how the collaborative approach of the NREN community, combined with the tools developed by the community, can be used to deliver on the vision outlined in the strategy.
